FilCan Alumni Group Honours 3 Outstanding FEATI University 2017 Graduates

June, traditionally, is a "wedding month" to many love couples. To others, especially to students and parents, it is the time for school opening or closing and at  best, graduation period. Once again, The Featineans Associaton of Toronto - TFAT  at this point, is proud to celebrate  by honouring 3 outstanding fellow alumni at  FEATI University, in Manila, Philippines.

True to its tradition and established practice, the 28-year old alumni  group in Canada in pursuance of its Annual Academic Excellence Awards program rightfully recognized three deserving graduates at their alma mater during the 2016-2017 term .Through a thorough process of selection in cooperation with the University's Student and Alumni Affairs Office under Melanie P. Florentino, TFAT has named the following as this year's recipients : Paul Christian T. De Vera  - Cum Laude ,BSc. in Aeronautical Engineering, College of Engineering; John Kenneth L. Pernia - Cum Laude, B.Sc. in Marine Transportation,College of Maritime Education, and   Rosalyn S. Aquino - Magna Cum Laude, BSc. in Customs Administration, College of Maritime Education.

The outstanding honourees, as in many past recipients, were awarded cash gifts and plaques of recognition during FEATI University's 71st Commencement Exercises on June 29, 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Centre in Manila, Philippines . At the ceremonies,  Atty. Lourdes Pagayatan represented TFAT in  presenting the yearly awards. FEATI University president  Dr. Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez and  Dean Tristan Macapanpan ,OIC- EVP for Academic Affairs were on hand and officially witnessed the proceedings.

The "TFAT- FU Academic Excellence Awards", now on its 11th year and with a total of more than 40 awardees,  is a joint yearly initiative of fully engaging and encouraging university students to aspire and excel in their respective academic endeavours and for top performers, to complete and compete for meaningful recognition and reasonable reward. Additionally, for the past 17 years, TFAT has an ongoing scholarship assistance project with the University, providing bursary grants to targeted and qualified students in identified academic programs and courses.

TFAT is currently headed by Engr. Oliver Rey, now on his second, comeback leadership time. Since its foundation in July,1989, the proud organization of alumni and former students, faculty members and employees of the 70 year old university by -the - Pasig River, its presidents include : Julio Buiza,Jr., Edmundo Birondo, Maximiano Recaido, Frank Amurao, Oliver Rey and Moises Ga. The living founders are Julio Buiza,Jr., Tony A. San Juan, Tirso Balitian and Anita Taay - Buiza. Within reasonable and feasible linkages, TFAT hopes to continue and meet challenging outreach initiatives in any way possible. ( Tony A. San Juan).
