George & Dolly Poblete Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary

By Fe Paca-Taduran

December 27, 2016

The Knights of Columbus Honor guards from Bishop Charles P. Greco Assembly # 2113 escorted SK George and Lady Dolly to the Altar and gave them the royal sword salute as they entered the hall with their entourage of children and grand children. Some 200 guests from their 14 community and religious groups gave them a big cheer as they joined them in the church hall.

The wedding celebration was coordinated by Amy Isaac with the Poblete family and faithful friends from their religious and community groups. The Block Rosary groups and families welcomed the guests at the church.  Patricia Martyn and her weekday choir played the music during the Mass. She also prepared the flower arrangements in the Church and Hall.  The Marriage Preparation Ministry of the Prince of Peace Parish headed by Rommel & Cynthia Acayan organized the program, catered the food and facilitated the memorable church hall reception. The 60th Anniversary decoration and needs of George & Dolly were taken cared of by their children and grandchildren.

The Pobletes have been Scarborough residents for more than forty years. They have been blessed with six children and 14 grandchildren. The Pobletes expressed their appreciation for the support and love showed by their family and friends in the community.

Among the groups represented in the event, were members of the Knights of Columbus, Knights of Rizal, Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, Block Rosary Crusaders of Toronto, IHM Block Rosary Crusaders, Barangay Sang Birhen Rosary Group, Rosary Apostolate in the School, Third Order of the Carmelites Scarborough Community, Parish Ministries of Prince of Peace, Judo Ontario and Judo Canada, and Parishioners of St. Barnabas Parish. Octogenareans George and Dolly are still very actively involved with many religious and community activities.
