Filipino Canadian Teachers Celebrate Early Christmas

Ahh...... the winter snow, the chill and the shopping are now upon us. Yes! ‘Tis also the season of holiday merrymaking, gift-giving and honouring the holy birth of the great Messiah.

The officers and members of the Philippine Teachers Association of Canada (PTAC), once again, successfully celebrated their 10th Annual Christmas Gathering on December 10, 2016 at the Masonic Temple Hall in Thornhill, Ontario.

Organized by PTAC vice-presidents Maricon Bernasor & Cielito Drapeza and other senior officers, the joyous event was led by President Rose Apilado and her husband, director Arthur Apilado. In attendance also were the special guests, family members, friends and colleagues of registered members of the 11-year old social-professional organization...the samahan ng mga gurong Filipino.

Among the other officers and members present were:  France Ampioco, Grace Basconcillo, Alicia Bautista, Jujelyn Brown, Mary Rose Cacdac, Marie Ann Guiang, Marites Mayumi Abubo, Gary Camu and Sheryll Camu, Boni Curutan, Mila Curutan, Grace Dela Reyna, Aurora Estopacia, Bernadette Gapuz, Marites Mayome, Jess Panem, Narisa Ramones, Donnabel Reid, Gigi Reyes, Tony San Juan, Perly Santos, Donna Scutariu, Jocelyn Shah, Elyn Cuizon, and Richard Vinluan.

Veep Maricon Bernasor, together with Jujelyn Brown, gamely acted as co - emcees and contest -and- trivia hosts of the evening's well- prepared program. Donnabel Reid led the opening prayers while Gerald Ramones and Arielito Drapeza, with their guitars, stirringly played the two national anthems. The opening speech was happily delivered by President Rose Apilado. Tony A. San Juan sworn in the 3 new Association members and Veep Cielito Drapeza, in her closing remarks, aptly thanked all the guests, the raffle gift donors, the chairmen & members of the different working committees as well as the strong logistical assistance by Francis Apilado, Manuel Bernasor, Arielito Drapeza, Gaurav Shah, Gerald Ramones and Edgar Reyes.

During the sumptuous dinner, noted Toronto chanteuse Jujelyn Brown provided lively musical entertainment with her charming Christmas and romantic, nostalgic renditions. Almost all the guests from their respective tables, joined in the Christmas Carol Singing Contest with creative improvisations to the delight of the crowd. Highlighting the December occasion was the warm greetings and well wishes for the December birthday celebrants France Ampioco, Maricon Bernasor, MaryRose Cacdac and Gigi Reyes.
