Poster Hero is Cristina Carpio

York Regional Police in partnership with the Canadian Multicultural Council - Asians in Ontario (CMC-AO), are pleased to host Asian Heritage Month. This event celebrates the rich diversity of our community that traces their ancestry to Asia.

In the past, partnership with our communities in the events have provided us numerous opportunities to learn about each other's cultures which is the make up of York Region. This event will highlight music and food reflective of our connections to various regions of Asia.

A significant celebration unveiling of the five (5) Asian Heritage Month Poster Heroes and one of them is the Philippines. Cristina Carpio is nominated as the Poster Hero to represent the Philippines.

This year's event will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 11:00am to  1:00pm at York Regional Police Headquarters - Atrium, located at 47 Don Hillock Drive, Aurora, Ontario (Leslie Street and Wellington Road). Open to public.

At a similar Asian Heritage Month event, 2016 Outstanding Asian Canadian Awards, a Community Award in "Honouring Our Pioneeers", is presented in partnership with the Canadian Multicultural Council - Asians in Ontario, celebrating the long and rich history of Asian Canadians in Ontario.

Each member organization selects one person who has contributed to the establishment of the community in Canada. Francis Rementilla, was nominated to represent the Philippines and will receive the Outstanding Asian-Canadian Award.

An evening of exciting Multicultural experience to celebrate our 2016 "Outstanding Asian Canadian Award" in "Honouring the Pioneers" of our communities. The Gala will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Premier Ballroom & Convention Centre, located at 9019 Leslie Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario L4B 4A3 Tel. No. 905-709-1759. Ticket requirement.
