OBSESSION ACCORDING TO DEREK RAMSAY AND KEAN CIPRIANO

By Pablo A. Tariman
Manila
February 5, 2016

In the film, the character of Kiray (Johanna Ismael Celis  in real life) is obsessed with Derek and she will do everything, including concocting a potion, just to get the object of her desire.

In the process, she becomes evil incarnate, then a hot object and when the potion works, she laughs her way to her carnal fantasy.

Wasn’t she aroused during the intimate scenes with Derek and Kean?

The studio press release describes her kissing scenes in the Valentines offering as “torrid” (with Derek) and “passive” (with Kean).

Kiray knows how to play with the entertainment media who are curious about the newly launched “hot object” and how she perceives her hot leading men.

She was a young promising villain as Desiree in the hit teleserye, Mara Clara.

The young comedienne admits that in real life, she is not the kind who will pursue men just like her role in the Regal movie. “I did everything in this movie to attract  my object of desire but outside of the klieg lights, I am not like that at all. I am one who can easily sense if my presence is needed or not.”

She grew with two nuns who took care of her studies and somebody asked if he would dare invite her “holy” guardian in her sensual, if, whacky movie. “I will probably seat the good sister in that part of the movie house where they cannot figure out what I am doing,” she grins and later bursts into laughter.

“Love Is Blind” is about fatal obsession and we ask the leading men how they cope with it in real life.

When you realize someone is very obsessed with you, it can be very scary, admits Derek and Kean.

Elucidates Derek: “It is a compliment when people like you but it is a different story when they start stalking you and making unusual overtures. I like befriending people, I like good company but I know when to draw the lines. I can be very friendly to a certain point. I can appreciate pure admiration and I reciprocate by being nice and friendly. But as I said earlier, I know when negative obsession should stop.”

Kean agrees: “I like the company of people especially those who like my acting and my music. When people like you, it is an indication you are doing the right thing. But when admiration turns into daily fixation, the only way to deal with it is to be honest and say friendship has its limitations. I like the good side of obsession. It means people care for you and they like you for what you are.”

Direk  Jason Paul Laxamana (Babagwa, Magkakabaung) says he is very realistic about commuting from indie projects to mainstream films. “It is a big challenge and a big pressure as well,” he admits. “But I had such a good time with the cast and I must say they did justice to my story. With their cooperation, I don’t regret getting wider audiences for my transition project.”

“Love Is Blind”  also starring Solenn Heusaff and  Chynna Ortaleza  opens on February 10.
