PHL EMBASSY IN DOHA CELEBRATES LABOR DAY



06 May 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Doha participated in the Labor Day celebration jointly organized by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Office (OWWA) together with the Filipino community members and leaders at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Doha.

During the celebration, Labor Attaché Leopoldo de Jesus read the Labor Day message of Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz which recognized the  valuable contribution of overseas Filipinos in nation-building and highlighted policy reforms aimed at improving the welfare of overseas Filipinos and their families.

Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos called on all overseas Filipinos to work together, as equal partners with the Embassy  in advancing the country's  national interest. Ambassador Santos also promised to implement changes in order to  further improve  the Embassy's services to meet the needs of the growing Filipino community in Qatar and to strengthen existing policies for the protection of the rights of overseas Filipinos.

The celebration also coincided with the 33rd founding anniversary of the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration which manages the Embassy's Filipino Workers' Resource Center.




FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN DOHA WELCOMES NEW PHL AMBASSADOR


06 May 2015 – The new Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos was welcomed by the Filipino community and members of the media in a dinner program hosted by the umbrella organization, United Filpino Organizations in Qatar (UFOQ) on April 29 at the Coal Restaurant in the Grand Qatar Palace Hotel.

Ambassador Santos also addressed questions from the media in a short press conference following the welcome dinner. He assured the Filipinos in Qatar of his commitment to further improve the Embassy's services to improve efficiency, including the provision of uninterrupted service and setting up of mobile services for Filipinos in remote areas.

He also urged the Filipinos to work together with the Embassy, as equal partners, to advance the interests of the Philippines especially in promoting the Philippines as a tourist and business destination. 

Ambassador Santos is the 6th resident ambassador to serve in the State of Qatar
