14 November 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Milan reached its 5,000th registrant since it started overseas voting registration on May 06.

Twenty-seven year-old nursing graduate from the University of Baguio, Rosielyn Damias is a native of Rosales, Pangasinan. Rosielyn has been working in Milan for the past five years as a caregiver and part-time babysitter. To keep her career options open, she will also take up a diploma-course as a dental hygienist next month. Rosielyn still actively pursues her dream to become a registered nurse. Rosielyn believes that “perseverance and determination, especially determination to be somebody, are keys to succeed in life.” When asked if she would still return to the Philippines although she is with her immediate family in Milan, Rosielyn enthusiastically said, “Yes, kasi iba pa rin ang lupa nating sinilangan.”

Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro stated that Rosielyn can be a role model for Filipinos in Italy whom she can motivate, improve their skills and succeed in life. Rosielyn won the title Miss Philippines-Italy 2010 where she impressed the judges with her positive outlook in life.
