FILIPINO COMPANY BAGS TOP ASEAN BUSINESS AWARD IN MYANMAR

24 November 2014 - Ms. Sandra Sanchez-Montano of Community Health Education Emergency Rescue Services (CHEERS) Corporation, a Filipino company, bagged the prestigious Woman Leader Award at the recently concluded ceremony for the ASEAN Business Awards held in Nay Pyi Taw on November 11 on the sidelines of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.

CHEERS, a fast-growing Filipino company that provides emergency medical services-related trainings and post-disaster relief services, was joined by five other companies in the region---one from Myanmar and four from Singapore---to receive the ASEAN-level awards.

Besides CHEERS, five other Philippine companies were given national awards: International Container Terminal Services Incorporated won for Corporate Excellence; Pointwest Technologies Corporation won for Innovation; Golden ABC Incorporated for ASEAN Centricity; VCargo Worldwide for Young Entrepreneur; and Fountainhead Technologies, Inc. for Small and Medium Enterprises.

A total of 21 companies in the region received awards in six categories---ASEAN Centricity, Corporate Excellence, Innovation, Young Entrepreneur, Woman Leader, and Small and Medium Enterprises.

Launched in 2007, the ASEAN Business Awards recognizes outstanding companies in the region.

The Philippine delegation to this year’s ASEAN Business and Investment Summit consisted of 24 members led by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippine Secretariat.
