On the 21st of September 2014, the second FIL-COM CUP SPORTSFEST culminated at the ST. MARTIN’S GYM in NAXXAR, MALTA  after 11 gruelling week-ends which started on the 13th of July 2014. It was well attended and well-applauded as a surprise winner emerged from the well-played game between two new Basketball teams KABOOM and BATANGUENO over the more established teams, GSM and MALTA BROTHERS.

The champion ,KABOOM, was awarded the FIL-COM CUP, aside from their winner’s trophy and a cash prize of 50 Euros.  Second were the Batangas Team, who garnered the First Runner-up trophy and a cash prize of 25 euros, followed by Malta Brothers and GSM.

Highest pointer was Jay Gentilizo of GSM, MVP -Anthony Dayap of KABOOM, Rookie of the Year- newcomer James Bacani of Batangas Team, and the Magic 5 are: Jay Gentilizo of GSM, Frandel Vicente OF Malta Brothers, Lemuel Manlucot of KABOOM, Rodel  Magnaye  of Batnagas team and Brian Roy of MALTA ACES.

While in the Volleyball Games, the winning team as last year  is once again Dreambusterz, who also received 50 Euros cash prize aside from the Champions Trophy. Next are the Spikers, followed by GSM girls and Vangiitanz.

The event, of course, would not have been successful if not for the generosity of the donors: Armando Ugates for the FIL-COM CUP and the cash for first prize; Antonio Pandes for second cash prize;  Mr. Martin Chatlani for the champions’ trophies for both basketball and Volleyball;  Luzviminda Bencini for the first runner-up trophies as well as the 3rd  place trophies;  Kristine Micvalef Ampong for the volleyball  second runner-up trophy and Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Sally Montefort for the Basketball second runner-up trophy; Janet Anne Tudoc for the volleyball champion medals;, Grace Gumpad for the VB 1st runner-up medals.

Tiny Wheeler for VB 2nd runner-up medals;  Vilma Bonifacio for the volleyball Best in Service Trophy;  Trixy Gatt for the VB Highest Pointer Trophy; Cris Taleon for the VB Best in Uniform won by the Lady Eagles;  Nadeen Viloria Shaw, for the VB Mythical 6 medals
Elvie Torres for the BB Champion Medals;  Eric Calleja for the BB 1ST Runner-up Trophy; Odessa Perez for the BB 1st Runner-up medals;  Racquel Erosido for the BB 2nd Runner-up medals; Nercely Miranda for the Most Disciplined Team Trophy won by Malta Europa; Mrs. Kaye Santos for the BB Highest Pointer Trophy;  Swift Porter owned by Mr. and MRS. John Claude Chetcuti for the BB Best in Uniform won by Malta Brothers; Cheryl Baguio for the BB Mythical 5 medals;  George Faure for MVP Trophies of both volleyball and basketball; Eva Navarro Balois for the Rookie of the year award won by James Bacani;  Marie Hipolito for the KABOOM Basketball Muses;  Mr. and Mrs.  Andrew  and Maria Santos Agius for additional trophies and medals; and Ysa de jesus for the trophy of the FIL-COM CUP Muse winner Mia Mendoza.

Most of all, the Sportsfest would not have even started at all if not for the great help and assistance of Mr. Jimmy Dacayanan, founder of FIL-COM and for always, its guiding spirit as well as the generosity of the referees to share their know-how and talents,  Nercely Miranda for Volleyball, Antonio Pandes, Kermit Avaricio II, and Juvel Galloza for Basketball.

The FIL-COM President, Veronica Cadag-Ugates, all officers and  committees extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone and if there had been omissions, the hope that you will extend your understanding and continued support.
